Vive Portlandia!

Hello.

Having spent three years exiled into provincial lands, I am extremely content to be back in Portland, Oregon.  I left with the intention of getting some "book learnin'" in the hopes of fueling my career in the non-profit arts and cultural sector -- now I'm home and ready to do any/all of the following:
  • "ate" in many NP capacities: advocate, educate, cultivate, macerate* (*donuts in the staff room)
  • administer the hell out of an office
  • research grants till my eyeballs implode
  • manage that database like it's never been managed
  • and communicate - both in oral and written form!
Why?  Because I derive a strange sense of pride from successfully coordinating behind-the-scenes minutiae, and I figured that I might as well put this talent to use for an organization I'd be proud to work for - hence, the arts and cultural sector.

It doesn't hurt that I myself love looking at/making/watching/hearing art in its infinite manifestations.  I will not bore myself with a manifesto here, but this is a critical point.  This drives me.  Something in me -- ADHD, perhaps? -- is quite interested in pushing, lancing, bursting, and tickling the boundaries of "safe."  I mean, artistically.  I admire those who have the talent, the inspiration, and the means to put these visions into action - and I want to be one of the people who supports them in making it happen.  In a nutshell.

The purpose of this page is 100% practical - no fancy whistles or bells here, just a good ol' compendium of Portland's arts and cultural organizations, sites, and folks.  I plan to add on as I reacquaint myself with the Paris of the Pacific Northwest, and to use this as a one-stop-shopping resource for all my local needs.

Cheers,
Me
